Friday Favorites: Volume 37

Happy Friday! We made it to the weekend, and since its been a couple weeks since I last did a Friday Favorites, I figured we were due for one!

Stepping stones for each birthday

I actually did this about a month or two ago, but I really want to make stepping stones each year with Theo’s footprint to put in our garden!

I bought a kit from Hobby Lobby and it had the concrete, a mold, and these glass/tile pieces to make a mosaic with. Hopefully my mosaic number skills will improve next year lol

Regardless, I’m really happy with how this turned out!

New system to determine activities for the day with baby/toddler

One thing I have started doing in recent months is writing down activities, putting them in a basket, and having Theo randomly draw out some activities for us to do. Sometimes I feel at a loss of what to do for the day, and this has made it super easy and fun to take some of the deciding out of the agenda for the day!

Lately I’ve been filling our days with more library story-time visits and doing errands/chores that I need to do to allow him to help, but when we have free time just for play, this is how I’ve been enjoying determining what to do 🙂

Linen 2 Piece set from Amazon

I got this Linen 2 piece set from Amazon for our recent trip to Italy but I’ve found it to be versatile with the changing weather. It’s comfy for lazy days around the house but also looks nice enough church or a dinner out.

Upgrade by Blake Crouch

This will be my third book I’ve read by Blake Crouch. I read Dark Matter a number of years ago and read Recursion a couple of years ago and loved them both. Dark Matter remains one of the best books I’ve ever read. If you enjoy science-fiction, I think you will enjoy his books! This is another science-fiction by him that has more to do with DNA. My husband read it and thinks I will really enjoy it, so I’ll let y’all know!

Audiobook: The In-Between by Hadley Vlahos, R.N.

This one was another recommendation, but from a close friend. I have come across Hadley’s videos on TikTok every so often where she talks about stories about her work as a hospice nurse. My friend who recommended it said that she cried every chapter, but that it actually gave her a lot of peace regarding death and dying.

Death is such a taboo topic, but I have unfortunately had to encounter a lot of it with my past roles as a nurse– especially when I worked in the ICU. Hospice has always been such an interesting area that I’ve considered in my own career. Every hospice nurse I’ve ever worked with is truly an angel.

I’m about 50% through with this one, but really enjoying it so far!
