DIY Farmhouse Coffee Table

DIY· Home

If you’ve been following me for a while, you might ask, “WAIT. Hasn’t Sara Ann already shared a coffee table project?”. Actually no one will ever ask themselves that, but IF they did, they would not be wrong.

I made THIS coffee table about 2 years ago:

DIY Coffee Table

This post is literally about the same coffee table (sorry to disappoint), but I just wanted to share an update about it, because I made it look better (in my opinion):

I’ve received a LOT of compliments about my coffee table in the past year, so I wanted to basically re-write my post about it, because I think it’s looking a lot better these days than when I originally shared it.

Here are the plans to make it yourself.

You can also refer to my original post about how we built it.

When we moved into our new house, I realized pretty fast that our coffee table’s color was not going to look great with our gray floors, as the Minwax honey stain I had used before was too warm toned for our house. I got to work and sanded down the top of the table and re-stained it with a mixture of Minwax dark walnut and Minwax classic Gray (I believe it was a 3:1 ratio). Then I just took a basic white paint and painted the bottom structure of the coffee table. I think this gave the coffee table more of a cooler toned color that looks great with our floors!

I actually didn’t add a clear coat because I was not crazy about the glossy finish.

I really love this coffee table because it’s HUGE and I love the storage underneath for things like magazines.

I also love this new color with our washable rug from Ruggable! You can read about our experience with them here!

I agree with you — the remodeled piece looks way better than the original! We’re currently having our floors refinished and the stain is a cooler tone than the old one, so I was concerned about how my coffee table would look. This post gave me the courage to try revamping it myself and it turned out beautiful! Thanks for sharing.

🍩 2-INGREDIENT DOUGHNUTS 🍩 All you need is a can o 🍩 2-INGREDIENT DOUGHNUTS 🍩
All you need is a can of biscuit dough and oil to make the favorite breakfast of my childhood!
Once you pop open your can of biscuit dough and separate the individual biscuits, you can cut a hole in the center and GENTLY add them to oil heated to 350-375 degrees. CAREFULLY flip over once brown on one side and once both sides are perfectly golden, transfer to a paper towel lined plate to drain excess oil.
Of course you can’t go without toppings! Our favorites are cinnamon sugar, powdered, and strawberry glazed, but you could make chocolate frosting, vanilla frosting, or even jelly filled! The possibilities are endless when the doughnuts are this easy to make 😊
My toddler absolutely loved this first day of summer treat, let me know if you try it! #toddlermom #funbreakfast #whimsy #whimsicalchildhood #recipe

Raising the shower curtain rod and sewing 2 inexpensive ikea shower curtains together definitely brought some color and funkiness into the space. And changing out the light fixture and framing off the builder grade mirror were such inexpensive upgrades that made a big difference!
