Wow it is officially December! Christmas season is in full-swing in our apartment and I am not mad about it!! As usual, I’ve been really busy with school and travel so its been a few weeks since I’ve posted. I’m working on some content for y’all though, so be on the lookout. Today, I decided to share 10 facts about me because I see I’ve got some new followers coming along for this blog ride 🙂
1. My husband calls me the ‘angel of death’ with plants
I can’t seem to keep a plant alive. Not even succulents…. :/ I think I love them too much and over water them haha
I have recently bought a few plants that are “impossible to kill” including this “crispy wave” plant and a snake plant!
2. I decided I wanted to be a nurse because of my grandfather’s experience on the ICU that I now currently work at
To make a very long story short, my grandfather got a bad infection following chemotherapy and went into sepsis when I was in high school. He was in pretty bad shape so he ended up on a Medical ICU for TWO MONTHS. It was a long, long road and I spent countless nights on that unit by his side. The nurses and doctors were all amazing and watching them made me want to be a nurse! I actually now work on the unit in the same hospital that he spent so much time at!
It’s still a little weird when I walk by the room that he was in, and I have a lot of memories that come back. But I think it helps me connect to my patients and their families in a unique way.
3. I’m an Ennegram type 2
Tbh I have no idea what this means but a lot of people ask me what I am, so now ya know.
4. I studied abroad in Guatemala for a summer
After my sophomore year of college, I went to Guatemala for a little over two months through a program at my school. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my life! I spent my first month studying Spanish in the morning from a native teacher (she didn’t speak any English!) and then my afternoons working with kiddos who were orphans and malnourished at Hope of Life International. The second month I lived with a host family and worked 24 hour shifts at an underprivileged hospital. I learned so much about myself and life during that trip!
5. I got my minor in Spanish
Kind of goes off of the previous fact, but I learned enough Spanish that I tested out of so many classes for my minor and some of my classes in Guatemala counted for credit!
6. My dream would be to live on 5+ acres of land and have 5 dogs, a cow, and chickens
Pretty much all I want.
7. I love going to the airport and flying
I know most people dread having to deal with the airport but I think it’s so fun for some reason. I can get SO much work done in terminals, and I just love flying to new places. I think it’s amazing that I can get on a plane, take a nap, and wake up in a totally new place!
8. I have 5 nieces and nephews
I also have 2 older half-sisters! My oldest sister had twin daughters who are in high school now (AH!) and my second oldest sister has 2 sons and a daughter. They are all the sweetest kinds!!
9. I have caffeine intolerance, so I technically shouldn’t drink as much coffee as I do
If you’ve read my post on Habit Nutrition, I had a DNA test that told me that I have a caffeine intolerance! Low-key my worst nightmare come true hahaha
10. This is my THIRD blog
I had a mildly successful cooking/food blog back in 2010-2013 (high school dayssss) but stopped and dropped the name when I went to college because… well its hard to maintain a cooking blog when all you have is a mini-fridge, microwave, and Keurig haha
I started another blog in college but mostly just wrote essays.
Third time is the charm though, right? 🙂
