OK does anyone else struggle with coming up with a gift for a white elephant/dirty Santa/Yankee swap/gift exchange? To be honest, every time I participate in one, I think of that episode of the Office where Michael turns the office Secret Santa into “Yankee Swap” because he wants to get rid of the homemade knitted potholder lol
Nobody wants to bring the potholder gift (aka the gift that nobody wants), and everyone wants to be the one who brings the video iPod (lol)– aka the gift that everyone desires.
But to be honest, I sometimes really struggle with coming up with ideas to bring! Especially if it is a co-ed gift exchange or one where there are varying ages present (like an office exchange, extended family exchange, etc.). G’s extended family always does a gift exchange, and since it included young cousins, uncles, and older relatives it’s hard to come up with a gift idea that would be appreciated by everyone.
After lots of Amazon shopping, I think I have come up with some decent ideas. And all of these are $25 or under!
1. Yeti Mug
Who doesn’t need another travel mug for their coffee? Plus Yeti is a “trendy” brand (plus they are dope quality) so this will for sure be a hit!
2. Cozy Throw Blanket
This is what I ordered to give at the gift exchange I am going to this year. White is a neutral color, plus it is SO cozy, and who doesn’t need another throw blanket for their couch or guest room?
3. Candle
If you’ve been following me for any amount of time, you will know that I have an obsession with candles… especially this one from Anthropologie or this Capri Blue one in a tin that is under $25. Just be careful to choose one that isn’t too sweet or strong. Instead choose light scents or “seasonal” scents that aren’t overpowering.
4. Amazon Echo Dot
I personally have never owned one of these but, the Echo has amazing reviews and it functions as a Bluetooth speaker.
5. White Girl Rosé + Wine Glass Tumbler
This is one of those “trendy”/”instagrammable” products haha
I think it was created by @thefatjewish, but it actually is really popular and a lot of people love it! The bottle of wine is only like $10, so you could pair it with an insulated wine tumbler that is about $12.
Or really any bottle of alcohol would be great! Maybe your favorite bottle of tequila or red wine would also be a great gift.
6. The Game of Things
This is SUCH a fun game! And you might even be abl
e to convince the person who gets it, that y’all should play after the exchange 🙂
