Friday Favorites: Volume XXXIV

About a million years ago, I used to weekly (if not semi-regularly) post my Friday Favorites on here. Recipes, music, Amazon finds, just random things in general! I’m not going to hold myself to the standard of reviving the Friday Favorites to every week, but I do think I will start doing it more regularly again!

Peppermint tea with lemon and honey

Recently I have been drinking this peppermint tea concoction almost every single night. It’s been so nice to wind down with after I put the baby to sleep. I just do a splash of lemon juice, some raw honey, and the peppermint tea bag. It’s delightful. Plus peppermint tea helps with bloating so I just feel like it is nice to have a few hour after dinner.

Creamed spinach

This is SO random, but I just haven’t had or made creamed spinach in YEARS because Garrett isn’t a fan of spinach (unless in a smoothie). However, on our recent trip to Isle of Palms, we had a date night in downtown Charleston. We ate at Amen Street Grill and I got the blackened mahi-mahi, roasted potatoes, and creamed spinach and I had forgotten how much I LOVE creamed spinach. I immediately started looking up recipes on Pinterest and when I made it at home last week, Garrett actually loved it (thank goodness) which means I can add it into a regular side dish rotation. Is it healthy? No. Will I convince myself that it is because it’s technically spinach? YES.

Vejas

I have been eyeing Vejas V-10s for a few years now and I finally got myself a pair. I used to own a pair of espalars, but they kind of looked like clown shoes on me (I have a larger foot haha) and I didn’t love the completely flat sole. The v-10s are a little bit lifted which makes them look less like clown shoes on me. The price deterred me for quite a long time, but I ended up finding a practically new pair on Poshmark (Use code SABURROUGHS for $10 off!) for $65 and I snagged ‘em! I LOVE them and they are so comfy, they are a great sneaker for running errands or traveling that still looks really stylish.

These are the ones I have– I’m having trouble finding an exact link for this pair exactly to buy but they have similar colorways here and here

Target tank tops

I have been living in these $8 tank tops from target (actually on sale for under $6 this weekend!!!). They have such a flattering cut and you cannot beat the price! I think I have them in 3 or 4 colors now.

Reading currently

Lastly, I wanted to share the audio book I am currently listening too and really enjoying so far! It’s called Raising Good Humans by Hunter Clarke-Fields. Theo is 10 months now, and I wanted to get a head start on reading up on discipline and behavior before we hit those toddler struggles. I really enjoy the premise: It’s all about mindfulness and meditation for the parent to be able to react thoughtfully, kindly, and respectfully, because when parents model this behavior, kids will learn to act that way as well.
