Favorite Things: Vol. XVI

I know its not a Friday BUT I wanted to share some of my favorite things this week but this week has been a little cray in preparation for Thanksgiving so this post is coming a tad late 🙂

G and I just put up our Christmas decorations (despite his constant complaining that they shouldn’t go up until after Thanksgiving) because I was just so excited to decorate that I couldn’t handle it any longer haha

Anyway, here are a few of my favorite things from the past week!

1. Decorating Sugar Cookies

A few weeks ago when my best friend got married, I made sugar cookies and decorated them (for the first time in my life because I’m generally not a huge fan of baking) for her bachelorette party. They didn’t look AMAZING but they tasted pretty dang good and they were a lot of fun! I made “bras” and “underwear” sugar cookies and used these icing squeeze bottles to decorate them. The icing bottles are nice because I:

a. felt less intimidated using them then I might have if I had been using a piping bag

b. had decent control with the icing bottle so I think it made decorating fun and kind of easy

c. clean up seems easier than using a piping bag

This week, I had leftover royal icing from the bachelorette party so I decided to make sugar cookies again but make fall themed cookies and practice my decorating skills. These came out pretty decent but I think I’m going to keep practicing!

If you’re looking for a good sugar cookie recipe that holds their shape once you cut and bake them, I recommend this one.

If you’re looking for a good royal icing recipe to decorate cookies with, I recommend this one. It’s a lot of work to make, but basically you just add a little water to the royal icing to get the particular thickness that you want. It’s a lot of fun for kids I bet!

2. This dang moisturizer

Okay I have had the driest skin for like a month now and I cannot seem to get it any better… until now.

I walked into Sephora basically on my knees begging for help and the sweet gal led me to this stuff. I have really sensitive skin so I was worried about something clogging my pores and breaking me out, but this stuff is light and moisturizes great.

Youth To The People – Superfood Air-Whip Hyaluronic Acid Moisture Cream (Sephora: $48)

3. “Pumpkin Pecan Waffles” Candle from Bath and Body Works

My best friend got me this candle as part of my “bridesmaid gift” for her wedding a few weeks ago and I’m in love with it.

It might be a little sweet for some people but if you like candles that smell like cookies or cake or dessert in general, you’ll love this one!

4. Thanksgiving is almost upon us!

Last but not least, I figured I would share my latest letterboard quote– it’s been a while since I updated it because the last quote took me like 30 minutes to set up and it hurt my soul to take it down lol

I know everyone things you should like dress up for Thanksgiving but for what? To wear to the living room? You’ll see me wearing a VERY forgiving sweater and my stretchy leggings (aka fat pants) this Thursday!!!

Have a Happy Thanksgiving!
