Charlotte has a rapidly growing beer scene and tbh, G and I are not mad about it 🙂 We love craft beer and hearing people’s stories behind the beer that they have created. Plus, the vibe of breweries is so much more relaxed and chill than that of a bar– much more up our alley. It seems like there is a new brewery popping up ever month or so, but the amount of beer festivals that we have gone to in Charlotte has allowed us to narrow down our favorites.
If you are new to Charlotte, visiting Charlotte, or even are a native (like me!), these are the breweries that I think are worth your while.
1. Wooden Robot
This is where my fave beer of all time lives: Good Morning Vietnam. They are still pretty small, but you’ll occasionally see their beers at local restaurants around Charlotte.
2. Sycamore
Sycamore is also located in SouthEnd and has a huge outdoor area that is perfect for when it gets warmer out to enjoy beer with friends. Plus the outdoor area gets filled up with food trucks on Fridays in the warmer months for Food Truck Friday. It’s a lot of fun!
My fave beer of theirs is Mountain Candy. Apparently it is made with actual candy (I’m thinking lifesavers maybe?) 🙂
3. Red Clay Ciderworks
This place is still a bit under the radar because it is more tucked away, but I think they make the best cider in town! My favorite that I have had from them was a seasonal flavor called Chai-Jacked. If you’re able to visit in the fall/winter, be sure to see if they have it!
4. The Unknown Brewing Co.
This place is in a great location. It is located near Seoul food which is one of my favorite places to eat and it has a food truck that lives there called Passport Dough and Co. The food truck makes some banging pizza! Plus their building is super cool looking, is open to the outside, and has great views of uptown.
Some of my fave beers there are: Hospitali-Tea, Grammy’s Breakfast, & Dedicated to the Beaver
5. Lenny Boy Brewing Company
Lenny boy makes all organic beers and also makes kombucha. That makes it perfect if you want to go out, but are maybe not in the mood for alcohol. I love their lavender lemonade kombucha and their strawberry one as well. As far as beers go, The Sweet Dee and Plumonary Groove have been a couple of my faves.
6. Legion Brewing Company
Legion has some amazing food (everyone loves their pizza), but their beer is what they are known for! It seems like every place around town serves Juicy Jay, and for good reason! It’s one of my favorite beers of all time. They have a location in Plaza Midwood, but relatively recently opened up a SouthPark location. We live in SouthPark so the new location is literally 2 blocks away, which is a little dangerous lol
