Okay, anyone else love Fixer Upper?? You know that guy who builds whatever Joanna wants…Clint Harp? WELL, my dad is my personal Clint Harp.
I currently live in an apartment so I always go over to my parents to take advantage of their garage and equipment to build things. My dad is the brains behind my DIY projects, and does most of the sawing, but I’ve mastered sanding and what not 🙂 I’m just afraid of the power saw, so I make him do that part!
About a year ago, I built a farmhouse kitchen table that was inspired by an Anthropologie table.
The picture makes the finish look lighter than it looks but it is actually the same finish as the coffee table!
We have had a hand-me-down coffee table for almost a year now, that really didn’t go with our style or the rest of our furniture. I had been looking and looking on Pinterest for coffee tables to build but really couldn’t find anything I liked. I even made it one of my 2018 visions to finally build one haha! Finally, I found this one, and I am obsessed with how it turned out. Plus it cost me around $55 to make (!!!!) You CANNOT get a sturdy coffee table for that price!
It was actually pretty easy to build, and nothing makes you feel more accomplished than someone complimenting your furniture, and being able to respond “Thanks! I built it!”.
Here are the plans that we used for our coffee table. Our table followed the plans almost exactly besides the top. The directions made the top almost framed off, but we instead just had our planks of wood lie straight across in one direction.
I used two coats of the Honey Satin stain by Minwax all over the table and then a coat of a clear Poly-Urethane to give it a glossy look (and protect it!).
For anyone wondering about my kitchen table, I used honey satin on the top and the Jacobean on the bottom part of the table. I really think the coffee table looks good with our kitchen table, which is important since we have an open floor plan.
I am really excited about how this baby turned out! I’m still working on styling it, so share below if you have any tips or ideas!
If you have any questions about my table, comment below! And if you decide to make this one, please share pictures and how it went! 🙂
