Rating the 8 Books I Read in February 2025

Books

I’m not sure I could have beat last month’s 12 books, but I’m pretty happy with knocking out 8 books in February! I’ve got a few non-fictions, 1 mystery thriller, and a bunch of romances to report to y’all on. And I’m currently reading Onyx Storm (newest Fourth Wing book), and it’s taking me a while, so I imagine that 8 books for last month will be a lot better than this month lol

12 Books I Read in January 2025

Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life by Tish Harrison Warren

I REALLY enjoyed Liturgy of the Ordinary. This is more of a faith-based book, but I do think people could get something out of it without being religious because it is SO well-written and is just a reminder of finding gratitude throughout the ordinary things of the day.

5/5 stars

Better Than the Movies by Lynn Painter

Honestly… this one is on me for blindly adding it to my TBR list without reading the summary closely lol this book is a high school romance which isn’t my thing as an almost 30 year old 😉 It is cute if you are a younger reader!

3/5 stars

Butcher & Blackbird by Brynne Weaver

Rating the 8 Books I Read in February 2025

This was the first… “dark romance” I’ve read in a while, but I really enjoyed this one! The FMC and MMC are both vigilante serial killers, so that’s where the gore and dark comes in. Still a fun read though!

4/5 stars

Fight Right by Julie & John Gottman

This book was amazing. I’ve been reading 10 pages or listening to an non-fiction audiobook for 10 minutes everyday as part of the 75 medium challenge, and I flew through this one. I found it to be so helpful in dissecting my own brain and the flaws in which I come at conflict. This should be required reading for anyone getting married!

5/5 stars

Potty Training in 3 Days by Brandi Brucks

I know I’m supposed to be rating all of these, but I don’t feel like I can give this one a real rating until I start officially potty training! I liked that this was a quick read, but time will tell if the advice of this book actually work!

TBD stars 😉

Lights Out by Navessa Allen

After I read Butcher & Blackbird, I saw this really popular other dark romance and thought, why not? Turns out I’m not a huge fan of the stalker romance genre! The banter in this book was fun, but the big conflict of this book could have been SO much more exciting if it had been drawn out a bit more.

3.5/5 stars

Confessions on the 7:45 by Lisa Unger

This one is a thriller-mystery type book and I wasn’t shocked by any of the reveals/twists of this book. It felt predictable and while I was mostly intrigued the first half, I was ready for it to be over the second half.

3/5 stars

The Ex Vows by Jessica Joyce

Really cute second-chance/forced-proximity/reconnecting romance book! In a sense, this book is also a big miscommunication (or rather lack of communication) book, which normally drives me crazy, but only made me a little crazy in this instance. I really liked the friend group dynamics and chemistry between the characters. It’s a fun read!

Because I had gestational diabetes in my pregnancy Because I had gestational diabetes in my pregnancy with my son, I’m being carb-conscious while I wait to take my glucose test at about 24 weeks pregnant. I’m roughly following the guidelines I was given back in 2022, but obviously not monitoring blood sugars at this time since I don’t officially have a diagnosis at this time. Hopefully this gives you some meal and snack ideas if you are being carb-conscious or have gestational diabetes! #gestationaldiabetes #pregnancy #whatiatetoday
I had diet-controlled gestational diabetes with my I had diet-controlled gestational diabetes with my first pregnancy, so once I found I was pregnant with my second child, my doctor asked me to go ahead and be “carb-conscious” and try to roughly follow the diet while I wait to do my glucose test at ~24 weeks.
Since I’m not checking my blood sugars rn, I’m trying my best to count carbs, adjust my portions, and make low-carb swaps where I can, with the knowledge that IF I get a diagnosis this pregnancy, I may have to adjust this diet further to reach my blood sugar goals. I’m also trying to make my diet as nutritious as possible for myself and baby but in a realistic way! #gestationaldiabetes #whatieatinadayrealistic #pregnancy

I do think this is a good way to ease myself back into the diet in case I do test positive again. I’m still letting myself enjoy what I want rn but I’m adjusting my portions and making low-carb swaps where I can! Also trying to make this diet more nutritious, but clearly my food aversions are still hitting, so I’m just trying my best 🤪 #gestationaldiabetes #whatieatinadayrealistic #pregnancy
baby #2 loading… ❤️ After having a difficult firs baby #2 loading… ❤️

After having a difficult first pregnancy and difficult postpartum, getting to a place mentally to feel ready for another pregnancy/postpartum took more time than I ever expected, and consumed me with a lot of anxiety. And then I faced conflicting feelings of sadness of not having the smaller age gap we originally hoped/wanted for our kids. Thankful for a supportive husband, 📣 THERAPY 🗣️, prayer, and friends who listen, to work through the hard stuff, get to a better mental space, and to feel peace to do this again.

This baby is truly so loved already and we cannot wait!!

Let’s cook some raspberries up and make some raspb Let’s cook some raspberries up and make some raspberry-fudge pudding popsicles with a secret healthy ingredient 🤫🥑

RASPBERRY FUDGE POPSICLES 🥑🍫
Raspberry Part:
-~6 oz of fresh/frozen raspberries
-2 tbsp of sugar (I used coconut sugar)
•add raspberries and sugar to a saucepan over medium heat. Cook and let boil for about 5-7 minutes, stirring often to get a jammy consistency

Chocolate Part
1 avocado
1/2 cup milk
2-3 tbsp cocoa powder (depending on how chocolatey you want it!)
Splash of vanilla
Pinch of salt
Maple syrup to taste
•add all to a blender and blend until smooth

•layer chocolate and raspberry portions in a popsicle mold. You can use a toothpick or wooden skewer to swirl the layer a bit before adding sticks and freezing for at least 6 hours
•you may need to run warm water outside of your molds to help remove the popsicles when you’re ready to enjoy ❤️

This makes 6 popsicles with the molds I have but it may vary depending on the size you are using. You also may have leftover raspberry sauce!! It’s really good on Greek yogurt for a parfait or on ice cream 😉 #healthydessert #kidrecipes #toddlermom #easyrecipe
